Sheet metal equipment

Generally speaking, the basic equipment used in sheet metal includes Shear Machine, CNC Punching Machine/Laser, Plasma, Waterjet Cutting Machine/Combination Machine, Bending Machine, as well as various auxiliary equipment such as unwinding machine, leveling machine, deburring machine, spot welding machine, etc.

Usually, the three most important steps in sheet metal factories are cutting, punching/cutting, and folding. Modern sheet metal technology includes: filament power winding, laser cutting, heavy-duty processing, metal bonding, metal drawing, plasma cutting, precision welding, roll forming, metal sheet bending forming, die forging, water jet cutting, precision welding, etc.


In 3D software, SolidWorks, UG, Pro/E, SolidEdge, TopSolid, etc. all have sheet metal parts, which mainly obtain the data required for sheet metal processing (such as unfolded drawings, bending lines, etc.) through editing 3D graphics, and provide data for CNC punching machines/laser, plasma, waterjet cutting machines/combination machines, CNC bending machines, etc.

Sheet metal quality inspection

The quality of sheet metal parts is not only strictly required in the production process, but also requires independent quality inspection. Firstly, the dimensions are strictly checked according to the drawings. Secondly, the appearance quality is strictly checked. Those who do not meet the dimensions are repaired or scrapped. The appearance is not allowed to be scratched, and the color difference, corrosion resistance, adhesion, etc. after spraying are inspected. This can help identify errors in the unfolding diagram, bad habits in the manufacturing process, and errors in the manufacturing process, such as programming errors and mold errors.

Surface Treatment

Commonly used are black and natural color oxidation; Aluminum plates that need to be sprayed shall undergo chromate oxidation treatment before spraying. Surface pre-treatment can clean the surface, significantly improve the adhesion of the coating, and double the corrosion resistance of the coating. The cleaning process starts by cleaning the workpiece. The workpiece is hung on the assembly line and first passed through a cleaning solution (alloy degreasing powder), then into clean water. Next, it passes through the spraying area, then the drying area, and finally the workpiece is removed from the assembly line.

Assembly process

After spraying, the assembly process begins. Before assembly, the protective stickers used in the original spraying should be torn off to ensure that the threaded holes in the parts have not been sprayed with paint or powder. Throughout the process, gloves should be worn to prevent dust from adhering to the workpiece. Some workpieces may also need to be dried with an air gun.


Packaging process

After assembly, it enters the packaging process. After inspection, the workpieces are placed in specialized packaging bags for protection. Some workpieces without specialized packaging are packaged with bubble wrap or other materials. Before packaging, cut the bubble wrap to a size that can package the workpiece, in order to avoid cutting one side at a time and affecting the processing speed; Large quantities can be customized with specialized cardboard boxes or bubble bags, rubber pads, pallets, wooden boxes, etc. After packaging, put it in a cardboard box and label it with the corresponding finished or semi-finished product label.
